Jubilee Plate 1970

The 1970 Jubilee plate was issued to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first Christmas plate produced in 1895. The title of the plate is “The Royal Palace Amalienborg” and it is the 12th in the series of Jubilee plates started in 1915, and still in production with a new plate every five years. A peculiar characteristic of all the Jubilee plates is that they repeat the ornamental motif of a previous Christmas plate; in this case the design of the Christmas plate of the year 1914 has been reproduced. White porcelain plate with decorations in various shades of blue. Each plate was produced in limited quantities only and exclusively in the year shown on the plate itself and production ended at the end of the year with the destruction of the original shape which made it impossible to reproduce. As a guarantee of authenticity, the plate bears the Bing & Grøndahl mark with the three towers, inspired by the coat of arms of the city of Copenhagen, and the initials of the painter who created the unique illustration of the plate.
