Additional Information
Notes historical bibliographic
Gabbianelli is an Italian ceramic company specializing in ceramic coverings and floors. It was founded in 1939 by Enrico Gabbianelli with a production plant in Cusano Milanino. In the 60s and 70s it also produced a series of ceramic objects for the home signed by important Italian designers. The company was purchased by Ceramica Bardelli in 1996, while maintaining its own production and brands. In 2000, after a further period of consolidation and restructuring of the Italian ceramic industry, Bardelli, Gabbianelli and several other brands became subsidiaries of the Altaeco Group based in Biella. Gio Ponti had a long collaboration with Gabbianelli while both Enzo Mari and Bruno Munari designed tiles for them in the 1970s, when Gabbianelli was one of the first companies to introduce screen printing into tile production. Gabbianelli's domestic objects and tiles are preserved at the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.Production: Gabbianelli
