Very rare first edition of this American classic on the mining history of Colorado, illustrated with a beautiful multiplied (56 x 43 cm) and colored map entitled: "Map of Colorado Territory to Accompany Hollister's" Mines of Colorado corrected from the Public Surveys of 1866 "Written close to the events described, this volume introduces us to the atmosphere of the discovery of gold at Ralston Creek and Dry Creek in 1850 and to the great gold rush at Pike's Peak, a period of feverish prospecting for gold deposits just a few kilometers away. north of the mountain, between July 1858 and February 1861, which would have involved more than 100,000 prospectors.
