Description
Palamède magazine appeared in Paris in 1836 on the initiative of the circle of chess enthusiasts who gathered at the famous Café de la Régence around Charles de la Bourdonnais, considered the greatest player of his time, having defeated the English Alexander in 1834. MCDonnell. . . Bourdonnais' death interrupted the publication of the newspaper in 1840, which reappeared in 1842 under the direction of Pierre Saint-Amant. Our volume is part of the first series of publications on Charles de la Bourdonnais. The schedules are interspersed with articles, travel diaries, memoirs, literary and poetic passages.
